The famous two day train tour to Machu Picchu is the perfect option for those who wish to enjoy this wonder without the long hikes. Many tourists choose to book this tour because it allows them to explore both Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley (which includes Chincheros, Maras, Moray and Ollantaytambo) in just two days. In addition, from the train you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes of the Peruvian Andes. Advance reservations are recommended due to the limited availability of Machu Picchu tickets and trains.

These can be purchased through a local travel agency in Cusco, and Lorenzo Expeditions has such authorization, so learn more about this tour below.

DAY 1: CUSCO – CHINCHEROS – MARAS – MORAY – AGUAS CALIENTES: Bus and Train.

At the coordinated time, we will pick you up at your hotel to start the excursion. Our first stop will be Chinchero, at 3,800 msnm, where we will see the colonial temple built on Inca foundations and walk through its typical streets and craft markets. There we will admire the textile work of the women with their typical costumes. Then we will go in the direction of the Salineras, observing a spring where salt water comes out and then reaches a thousand pools, where salt is obtained through a whole process for human consumption. Then we will visit Moray, with its mysterious circular terraces that were possibly an Inca agricultural research center. We will have lunch in the Sacred Valley and then we will see the Inca town of Ollantaytambo, to finally take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Meals included: Lunch | Dinner

DAY 2: Machu Picchu

The bus will take us from Aguas Calientes to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Here, we will enjoy a two-hour guided tour, exploring the most important constructions and temples of the area, both in its agricultural and urban aspects. At the conclusion of our guided tour, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. It is also possible to visit Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, with prior reservation at least three months in advance.
